Vincent Voillat
Born in Nantua, Vincent Voillat lives and works in Ivry-sur-Seine. His multidisciplinary practice explores the relationships connecting territories, real or virtual, the flows passing through them, their inhabitants and their memories. Working through a logic of sampling, he draws on geological extraction, archaeological excavation, botanical observation, found objects and popular narratives. These heterogeneous materials are associated, juxtaposed or reinterpreted without hierarchy, creating conceptual landscapes in which distant temporalities coexist. Bodies and territories, ruins and utopias, natural strata and social persistence enter into dialogue through sculpture, collage, textile, writing and performance. Voillat approaches memory as an archaeology of layers: each stratum retains its own density while contributing to a larger, unresolved account of places and the transformations they endure.
