Cloé Vriet

A paper artist and set designer, Cloé Vriet moves between large-scale installations for luxury houses and more intimate works. For over a decade, she has explored paper as both surface and matter, drawn to its apparent simplicity, its fragility and its infinite capacity for transformation. Folding, cutting and assembling allow her to create organic or figurative volumes in which craftsmanship meets a distinctly sensitive approach. In her personal work, the sheet is no longer a neutral support: it becomes skin, memory and receptacle. Through slow, repeated incisions, sometimes described as Écorchures, she mistreats and caresses the surface at once, searching for the trace of buried wounds. Shadows, reliefs and textures gradually turn the image into a tangible, almost bodily presence.
