AUDREY DIWAN
A French writer and director based in Paris, Audrey Diwan studied journalism and political science, published her first novel and worked as an editor and magazine editorial director before entering film through screenwriting. She co-wrote several features for other directors, winning the César for Best Adaptation in 2023 for L’Amour et les forêts. Her own directing began with Mais vous êtes fous, followed by L’Événement, adapted from Annie Ernaux and built around a solitary heroine facing a clandestine abortion in 1963. The film won the Golden Lion at Venice, making her the second French woman to take the prize after Agnès Varda. She went on to direct Emmanuelle and continues to move between writing and directing.
