ÉMILE DEGORCE DUMAS
Émile Degorce-Dumas is a French artist and ceramicist living and working in Paris. He graduated from the Villa Arson in Nice and has taught ceramics at the Atelier de Sèvres for around ten years. His sculptures, vases and hybrid objects are built on the undulating line, with irregular contours and disordered ornament that hold the piece in deliberate imbalance. He draws on the animist rites of a childhood spent in French Guiana and crosses them with the codes of contemporary Western culture. In 2017 he was in residence at the Palais de Tokyo with the Institut d’Esthétique.
