ISMAËL MOUMIN

A Belgian photographer and visual artist based in Paris, Ismaël Moumin draws on fashion, architecture, contemporary dance, design, cinema and painting, using form and light to create images that are both sensual and radical. His training in interior architecture led him to design objects and temporary structures, often conceived to disappear after they have been photographed. This ephemeral quality runs through his practice, where image, object and space continually reshape one another. Moumin is particularly interested in the ways individuals create a personal habitat: how a body defines its limits, protects itself and invents a place within emptiness. Moving between observation and intimacy, raw matter and rigorous modernist forms, his work reduces gestures and objects to their essentials, opening onto narratives suspended outside ordinary time.
